I’ve tried a lot of skin care in my lifetime and probably even more since I became a blogger. Everyone wants you to try their latest and greatest and I’m always happy to do so because I want to know what’s out there so that I can share my findings with you. You know you can count on me to give it to you straight and that’s what I’m going to do again here.

What I’m always looking for is skin care that is safe, effective and smells like nothing. I’m not necessarily looking for 100% natural as I am looking for products that are toxin free. To me an added “natural scent” is still a scent and again, I want products that smell like nothing.

This is honestly harder to find than you’d think…until I found it.

Drunk Elephant Skin Care

How did I come across Drunk Elephant? To be honest, I tried a couple of their samples that I got with a Sephora promo code and I liked what I experienced. I put out a call on my Instagram stories to see if any of my audience members had tried the brand and the reviews from those who had were pretty glowing. The other comments were “I’ve been wanting to try it – you go first and then report back!” So I did. Here is everything:

I tried almost the entire line. I dove right in, didn’t wear makeup for a week (which was pretty easy to do) and gave Drunk Elephant a real shot. I’ve been using the line exclusively for almost 2 months now and I think it’s safe to say that I am hooked. I’m addicted. I’ve finally found what I’ve been looking for in skin care.

If you’ve read any of my previous posts about skin care you know that I always look for something that absorbs quickly, goes well under makeup and doesn’t make my skin feel suffocated. Drunk Elephant ticks all the boxes for me. All of them!

Skin Care Smoothies

I find multi-step skin care to be really tedious and daunting but with the skin care “smoothie” recipes that Drunk Elephant offers, you can mix all your required products in your hand and apply them all at once, rather than in layers. Check them all out on the website to see what combos are perfect for you. Sometimes your skin needs more or less of something, so be sure to adjust accordingly!

My Drunk Elephant
Skin Care Routine

A.M. Skin Care Routine: Each morning, I use a combination of these products – a drop of each mixed together and applied to my face, neck and décolleté. This combination is fast absorbing so there is little to wait time to apply makeup overtop. It also feels really light. I’m often wary of sunscreen because of its ingredients (even though I know it’s important) and was even more so during pregnancy. This is finally a sunscreen that can be worn underneath my makeup and I don’t have to worry about what’s in it.

Shop: B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum | C-Firma Day Serum | Lala Retro Whipped Cream | Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense (also available in tinted formula)

P.M. Skin Care Routine: Every evening, I use a combination of these products – a drop of each mixed together and applied to my face, neck and décolleté. I use the Virgin Marula Luxury Face Oil as needed, on those days when my skin feels a little extra dry. I find the Facial Oil a little easier to apply when it’s mixed in with the other products, too. I don’t use the A-Passioni Retinol Cream every day – I use it about every second day.

Both Morning & Night: Both morning and night I use a little squirt of each of these eye products. The mix together nicely (like a little eye smoothie!) and they provide the perfect amount of moisture before bed but are also light enough to wear under makeup. I often skip the morning cleanse using this Beste No.9 Jelly Cleanser to dissolve my makeup and cleanse my skin before bed. The Lippe balm is perfect any time of day!

I also tried the Protini Polypeptide Cream moisturizer and it’s really nice, but just a little heavier than I need. I think it might be a product that I’d revisit in the winter months, especially during ski season.

What I haven’t yet tried (but would love to!): T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial, E-Rase Milki Micellar Water, Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops, Slaii Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser or any of the bars. A comprehensive list and description of the products comes in each package, too!

Ingredients & Philosophy: I’m not going to get into the nitty gritty with you here, but what I invite you to do is check out all the details on their website here. They clearly outline their philosophy better than I ever could and I think it’s worth a read before you dive into their product line. Not sure about diving in? Why not pick up The Littles 4.0 set where you can get 8 of Drunk Elephant’s products to try.

Why Clean Beauty?

I jumped into the world of clean beauty when I was in the trying-to-conceive phase of my life. I wanted to make sure that what I was absorbing through my skin was going to be safe for me and baby. Even now that I’ve had my baby, her skin is often against my skin and I want to make sure that’s safe, too. For some more info on clean beauty, you can check out my article here.
