I love a west-coast-cool vibe in a home. I love beachy vibes and anything light, bright and airy. I love a home that feels like a comfortable space for a family to actually live in without sacrificing elegance.
In this post, I am going to share the stunning features of the open-concept main floor of Trickle Creek Homes’ Cassidy Home. The balance of spacious and cozy, elegant and relaxed is executed so brilliantly here – I hope you love it as much as I do!
A Modern Kitchen With Great Lines
I love when a kitchen has enough cabinetry and storage that there is “a place for everything and everything in its place”, even without a walk-in pantry. The refrigerator and pantry cabinets blend seamlessly into the space without feeling like they’re a part of a heavy wall of cabinetry, also keeping it from feeling like too much of a ‘traditional’ kitchen.
The stunning white oak and clean white countertops are visually stunning from any angle of the main floor amplifying the casual-elegant vibe of the space. I love how well the clean lines just work.
Although the space is visually stunning, a kitchen after all, is still for cooking. With chef’s appliances and plenty of surface area, this kitchen is a home cook’s dream.
Everything space in this kitchen feels light, bright and airy – and everything is beautifully to scale. Even this marble clad range hood is visually stunning without feeling heavy or out of place.
I love the amount of countertop space in this kitchen! Rather than closing this wall off, I love that the countertop beside the chef’s range was extended for what I call a “cookbook nook”. It also allows for much needed space around one of any kitchen’s busiest appliances so no one is tripping over one another!
Not only does this space allow for some visual design interest, it’s the perfect spot to steal some ‘me-time’ with a cup of coffee (or glass of wine) and flip through your favourite cookbook to plan what’s for dinner…or peek at the kiddos on the front patio!
Also, can we talk about these vaulted ceilings and skylights for a minute? I am so wowed by how a kitchen with such incredibly high ceilings doesn’t feel imbalanced with the cabinetry below. The amount of natural light that pours into this space is absolutely incredible. It provides the sunlight you want without taking away valuable wall space for cabinetry and storage.
A Kitchen Made for Entertaining
With so much counter space in this kitchen it is a dream for entertaining. There’s plenty of space around the stove, a massive island in the middle for serving food and then this lovely area that’s perfect for a wine, dessert or coffee bar.
You may have noticed the table-height breakfast bar at the island. This space comfortably seats 6+ adults for a casual dinner. I love that rather than traditional island seating, everyone can see each other and converse face-to-face, rather than sitting in a straight line. It’s the perfect spot for family meals and homework. Surfaces of different heights, too, are perfect for both entertaining and working in the kitchen with little ones.
A Truly Open-Concept Main Floor
Everyone loves an open-concept main floor but I believe to execute it properly you need to ensure you have ample space and storage so you’re not living in chaos.
This home achieves the perfect balance of transitioning from the kitchen to the living room with the table-height breakfast bar at the island, long vaulted ceilings and indoor-outdoor spaces.
I think it helps, too, that the modern kitchen is styled in a way that doesn’t feel like a traditional kitchen. Its design blends into the adjacent spaces while still providing ample cabinetry for storage and surfaces for serving and entertaining.
A Elegant-Beachy Living Space
When your living room is off the kitchen, it’s important to get it just right. It’s often a space that gets used for so many things – before and after dinner drinks or dessert, a spot to curl up with a good book or just hang out with the family.
I know I keep mentioning just how cohesive the spaces in this home are, how one area flows to another, but what I haven’t touched on yet is the indoor-to-outdoor flow that the space has. The view below is from the outside patio that this space opens up onto.
This living room, grand in itself in the cooler months with its large windows all around, features glass accordion doors that open up onto the back patio, expanding the living spaces both in and out.
In the photo above you can see a seating area to the left that can open from the dining room as well. This seating area shares the double sided fireplace from the living room (shown below). You can also see the patio doors to the left which offer access to the main hallway and master bedroom.
The ‘Formal’ Dining Room
Did you think I forgot about the dining room? I’m loving how new homes are bringing back the formal dining room. This space is visible from the front entrance and acts as the pass-through to the kitchen. It’s the perfect space to greet and entertain guests.
The dining room is styled with a large round table that provides ample seating but also doesn’t block the flow between rooms. I also love that it features sliding doors that open to the large outdoor patio, creating a lovely inside-outside living space (visible in the left side of the living room photo above).
The Powder Room
Last but not least on this main floor tour is the powder room for guests. I love how the design in this space highlights the extra high ceilings making what could be a tiny bathroom feel grand and elegant.
A powder room is a must for me, especially when entertaining guests. It creates a nice delineation between public areas and private family spaces.
Also On The Main Floor…
Not featured in this post, but also found on the main floor are the home’s stunning grand entrance and staircase, airy hallway, little nooks to hide away in and seating areas to just relax and enjoy the sunshine. Check those out here.
This floor also features the master bedroom, ensuite and closet as well as the home’s mud room and laundry. Those can be found here.
