Sometimes the spaces that aren’t deemed “rooms” in a home are overlooked, even though we pass through them throughout the day and spend more time there than we realize.
But what happens when a builder doesn’t over look the halls and nooks and extra spaces in the home? What if a home’s main entrance not only served as a grand meeting place, but also provided a space to relax and take in the day?
In this post, I am going to share the stunning ‘extra’ features of Trickle Creek Homes’ Cassidy Home. Come with me as I tour you through the mud room, hallways, grand entrance and so much more!
You Only Get One Main Entrance
When a home makes a first impression like this one, it’s hard not to stare. I don’t know if it’s the extra large glass front door, the stunning staircase, the additional windows or the perfect spots to sit that this space has.
This little nook at the bottom of the staircase is one of my favourite spots in this entire home. I don’t know why, but it just felt like the perfect spot to hide away with a cup of tea! You could also hide things in pretty baskets beneath this bench…just sayin’!
Can we take another look at this staircase please?! I can’t decide my favourite thing about it – the white oak treads, the contrasting railings, the beautiful millwork on the walls…maybe it’s that grand chandelier hanging right in the centre.
P.S. Did you notice the additional cozy spot to sit?! (and I’m not talking about the steps themselves!)
Let’s Head Upstairs…
I feel like bonus rooms are a little played out, which is why I was so excited to see this beautiful library/reading nook at the top of the stairs instead of just another family TV room.
Built-in bookcases make this room feel so much more finished than furniture store shelves. They’re also a great place to display family mementos.
Chair-and-a-half seating make this space a cozy retreat for any member of the family to curl up with a good book or a visit with friends. The large windows allow for plenty of light to come into the space.
Oh, did I not mention that this space features a glass wall so it’s open to below? It not only adds to the airiness that they entire home has, but also allows for so much more light to run through the stairwell, the main entrance and the reading nook, too.
It also allows for a great view of the main entrance, the beautiful stairwell millwork and of course, the grand chandelier!
I know you’re going to ask about this chandelier, so I had to include a close up shot for you. It’s honestly not something I would have ever considered myself, but it is just so perfect in the space.
Let’s Talk Hallways…
Honestly, a hallway in a home is so often an afterthought it’s kind of sad. But not this hallway. It’s almost my favourite space in the entire Cassidy home. This hallway leads from one end of the main floor to the other. It takes you from the front entrance and main living spaces all the way through to the mud room (shown below).
The hallway is not only filled with natural light throughout the day because of its expansive windows that overlook the patio, but it also features high ceilings where you can display large artwork. I’d opt for a gallery of black and white family photos!
This stunning hallway is also what takes you to the main floor master retreat. The width of the hallway that leads to the double doors of the bedroom make you feel like you’re in your own castle!
I Can’t Resist a Mud Room!
If you’re a long-time reader of Styled to Sparkle, you know a mud room is one of my favourite spaces in a home! I don’t know what it is, but I love them! Maybe it’s that there is always a space for everything and it can all be tucked away out of sight!
This gorgeous space features impressively high ceilings with floor to ceiling cabinetry painted in this delightful whimsical blue. I think that if you’re going to have fun with a colour, especially with cabinetry, a mud room is a great place to do so.
Also, who can resist this special spot just for pets? And on this timeless grey-white herringbone tile floor? It’s fun, stylish, functional and everything you need to be able to leave the mud room door open for viewing!
