Greater Goods Boutique & Tea Bar, Calgary, Canada
I was fortunate enough to get a sneak peak of this adorable shop in Calgary with one of the owners before they opened to the public. Here’s what I discovered about this shop that I hope will grow to be a local landmark.
The Story: Greater Goods was founded by three local established entrepreneurs whose vision is “for a vibrant Calgary area where artisans can meet, make, and offer the best of their work. With a small-business mindset, plus the variety and opportunities gained from our different interests and talents, Greater Goods revitalizes the best of Canadian entrepreneurship and connects artists, employees, and customers with the world of the authentically handmade!”
The Space: The building itself features gorgeous architecture, brick exterior, original hardwood floors and tall windows that let in the beautiful natural sunshine. The space is warm and inviting, perfect for the shop’s tea bar and local merchandise. The mix of modern and vintage furniture and displays are really tasteful. Its casual elegance makes it a perfect venue for a bridal shower or afternoon tea party.
TIP: The space is available for workshop bookings and also hosts Crafted’s Make & Mingle DIY classes and business classes.
The Goods: The shop features a huge range of local handcrafted goods from Crafted (including ceramics, leather, greeting cards, home décor, and art), gorgeous jewelry by Salt Water Tea, and bath and body products by Mint & Daisy (their lip balm is to die for!). This is a perfect place to find a thoughtful gift or to treat yourself while supporting local artisans.
What I love most about this boutique is that it features quality local goods all in one place without feeling like you’re at a crowded craft fair or kitschy market. It’s a great spot to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee (both local) and a treat (also local) while browsing new and interesting items. I love unique and one-of-a-kind items and this is a great spot to find them.
My favorite items (so far!) are the Mint & Daisy lip balms, the crystal necklaces and stud earrings by Salt Water Tea and the gorgeous Crafted greeting cards that can be framed and double as art prints to add color and inspiration to any space.
What else did I love? There was ample parking and the store is easily accessible from main routes. It’s close to downtown, too, making it a great place to pop in over the lunch hour!
Keep up with what’s new at Greater Goods!
