Celebrating Canada Day the only way we know how: with some of our favourite Canadian wines! Is your favourite on our list?
Nichol, Pinot Gris (2016)
Nichol is one of pioneering wineries on the Naramata Bench, small scale production that always over delivers! The Pinot Gris grapes are pressed and then left in contact with the skins for 36 hours, giving it its punchy salmon hue. This wine falls in our Lush style: round on the palate with generous notes of ripe peaches, ginger & gala apples. ($31.45)
Unsworth Vineyards, Allegro (2015)
Unsworth is one of just 37 wineries on Vancouver Island! Located in the Cowichan Valley the vineyard enjoys a Mediterranean microclimate that makes the average year-round temperature warmer than anywhere else in Canada! Here they focus on varietals that were designed to thrive in this unique climate. Allegro is a blend of Petit Milo and Sauvignette, found in our Mellow style, this wine has notes of honey, pineapple and lively citrus, unique and delicious! ($29.95)
TH Wines, By Hand Rosé (2016)
It’s no surprise, we love Tyler Harlton’s wine. He is a firm believer in doing everything ‘by hand’, this naturally limits how much wine he can produce but this also ensures impressive quality. His 2016 Rosé is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. With notes of red licorice, ripe strawberries and vibrant acidity, you’ll definitely be going back for more! ($29.95)
Misconduct, Cabernet Franc (2013)
Misconduct’s winemaker, Richard and his family have been farming in the Oliver area since the 1950’s. His intimate understanding of the land helps him create terroir driven wines. The Cab Franc is from the ‘Suspect Series’ of premium, small production wines. In this series, each bottle has the longitude and latitude coordinates of the vineyard the fruit came from! This wine, a stunning example of our Smooth style has superb balance, supple tannins and notes of red plums and baking spices. ($56.95)
