Pulcinella is one of my favorite restaurants in Calgary, Canada. It’s been home to many date nights and celebratory occasions for our family over the years.
It’s located in the city’s area of Kensington, home to many shops, pubs and restaurants. In the summer time it boasts a second floor patio that looks out onto the bustling streets below. In the winter, it’s cozy and ambient, perfect for a family dinner, celebration or date night!
Authentic Napoletana Pizza: Pulcinella doesn’t just make this delicious pizza and say that it’s authentic – it actually, certifiably is. Their owner and head chef is “one of only a handful of people in North America (and the only one in Calgary) certified by…the exclusive Associazione Pizzaioli Napolitani, certifying your expertise as a master of classic Napoletana cuisine.” You know it’s truly Italian!
With so over 20 pizzas to choose from, I still always get the Diavola (I like the spice! shown above) and my husband always gets the Crudo (shown below)…both with added roasted garlic. I’ve tried other pizzas and they are just as amazing, but there’s comfort in the same dish each time. Don’t forget the Chianti!
Not a lover of pizza? They offer a wide selection of Antipasti and pastas that can be served family style (one of my friends always gets the Steamed Mussels).
My recommendation: Don’t leave without having tried the Arancini (saffron-infused arborio rice molded and stuffed with mozzarella, breaded and topped with a fresh tomato sauce) to start and the Saltinbocca (warm pizza crust slathered in Nutella) for dessert.
If you can’t finish, you can take your leftovers home in one of their entertaining pizza boxes!
