I really enjoyed Native Tongues Taqueria in Calgary. Their menu features a large variety of options for appetizers, entrees and share plates. I love their ordering system: you check off what you’d like on the menu and the server adds it to the computer. Don’t worry – they bring the menu back so can continue to add items on later! Also worth noting is that the staff are friendly and know the menu really well, so they are able to make appropriate suggestions based on personal tastes and dietary restrictions.
One thing I find that often lacks in tacos is well-seasoned meat, but this was not the case here. Their meats were well-seasoned and each dish featured balanced flavors. I really liked that some tacos were available individually, so you can mix and match to try a variety of items. Everything that comes out of their scratch kitchen looks amazing. The ingredients are so fresh and delicious – I can’t wait to go back!
Their menu also features a variety of cocktails and the sweetness level of their traditional margaritas is spot on.
The atmosphere was very lively and got progressively busier as the evening went on. This is definitely a great place to grab a drink and maybe a few appetizer tacos with some friends after work or on the weekend. I liked that there were a variety of tables to sit at (family sized, high tops, etc.) as well as the bar that looks on to the open kitchen to suit any style of group.
